Chris Edison's Story

After leaving college I entered the corporate world. I was interested in IT (Information Technology) and at the time that was a new hot career option.

I started out in IT Operations as a trainee on a 2-years trial. This meant that if I didn’t perform well the company could easily get rid of me within that 2-years period.

I had landed myself a job that many of my peers would have loved, and I was determined to hang on to it. What is the best way to do that? I asked myself on the first day as I stepped in front of a large bank of computer screens.

There were computers everywhere I looked in the IT Operations suite. For a young trainee this could have been overwhelming. Then I noticed a bookshelf in the corner to my left, and a determined smile crossed my face as I thought “Knowledge is power!”.

I soon learned that knowledge by itself is not that powerful; it is the practical application of knowledge that can propel you to success.

Over the next several months, I eagerly read through every single book on that bookshelf. I never saw any of the other IT Operators pick up a single book from there.

I built the understanding I got from those books, by discuss things further with more experienced people in my team and with experts outside of my team. I also began putting into practise what I learned.

The result of learning from those experts and putting it into practise, was that before the first year of my 2-years trial came to an end, the head of IT Operations informed me they were officially removing my trainee and trial status.

I was now on an equal footing with some of the others in my team. I didn’t stop there. I continued to learn and work hard, which resulted in me overtaking everyone else in the team and becoming the head of IT Operations.

From there, I continued to climb the corporate ladder and went on to work for a number of major corporations on a permanent and contractor basis.

However, there was always something nagging me in the back of my mind. There had to be more to life than this. I’d achieved a degree of success but surely I had more to offer the world?

So, I went deep into exploration of my values, what was really important to me and what I really would love to do with the time I have left.

I realised that having a job was not in itself going to get me where I wanted to be. So, I entered the world of online marketing and have not looked back since.

Online marketing supports many of my core values. Like being able to do the best for my family, create financial freedom, and contribute to society to help other people.

Using a similar mindset that I had all those years ago when I devoured those books in IT Operations, I began seeking out the top experts in online marketing and learning from them.

I continue to work with some of the top multi-million dollar digital marketers, and am helping others to achieve their financial goals.

Outside of business, I enjoy keeping fit and travelling with my family. Life isn’t all about work; a successful online marketing business will enable you to spend more time doing the things you love.
